How and why did you choose to become a designer?
I wanted to stay creative after high school, stumbled upon graphic design and it offered a whole world of possibilities for work. Never looked back.
What are some of the challenges you encounter as a designer and how do you deal with them?
Finding fresh ways to approach new problems and staying motivated. Taking a break and not rushing ideation seem to be the golden ticket.
What is your definition of an “elegant solution,” that is, good design?
Something unexpected, simple and conclusive.
From skills to values, what makes a designer successful?
Confidence with humility.
How do you stay motivated and grow personally and professionally as a designer?
Side projects (personal or professional). They allow you break up your day to day, challenge you in new ways, and give you freedom to experiment.
For those aspiring to become a designer, whatever the discipline, what is your advice?
Do work and show only what you aspire to do.
What is your quest in design, from a professional practice, education or evolution standpoint?
Forever on a quest to keep it simple.
